Coaching built around the whole athlete

Complex physiology. Clear training. Sustainable progress.

High performance does not come from collecting more data or following a generic plan. It comes from understanding which signals matter and translating them into the right action at the right time.

Your training is designed around the demands of your event, your experience, your available time, your recovery and the realities of life outside sport.

What support means in practice

Clear access. Clear response windows. No vague promises.

01

Limited individual intake

New coaching places are deliberately limited so reviews, communication and programme decisions remain personal. Current availability is confirmed after the fit call.

02

Messages within one working day

Normal coaching messages are answered within one working day, Monday to Friday. This is direct access to Chris through the agreed coaching channel.

03

Plan changes with a clear window

Time-sensitive schedule changes are handled within one working day where practical. Routine programme updates follow the weekly or monthly review cadence of your programme.

04

Direct access, clearly defined

Direct coach access means personal coaching communication with Chris. It is not a 24/7 emergency, medical or injury-diagnosis service.

Performance testing

Lactate Threshold Assessment

Incremental testing, blood lactate measurement, heart rate and power or pace analysis, training-zone recommendations and a concise written summary.

Why Science In Performance

More than a calendar of sessions.

The value of coaching is not the plan written on Monday. It is the quality of the decisions made when your body, schedule or goal changes on Wednesday.

01

A scientist-coach in your corner

Training decisions are interpreted through physiology, evidence and the lived reality of the athlete—not generated from a generic template.

02

One connected performance system

Endurance training, strength, recovery, nutrition behaviours and race execution are planned together rather than treated as competing extras.

03

Designed around real life

Work, family, travel, illness and changing availability are programme inputs. Adaptation is part of the system, not evidence that the plan has failed.

04

Clarity over data overload

Power, pace, heart rate, lactate and athlete feedback are used only when they improve a decision. Every metric must earn its place.

05

Coaching that builds independence

You are taught the purpose behind the work so you develop better judgement, greater confidence and a repeatable approach beyond one event.

The coaching method

Rigour without unnecessary complexity.

A repeatable decision process combines physiological precision with the context that can never be captured in a single number.

01

Assess

Establish the athlete, event, environment, history and current capacity.

02

Analyse

Identify the few variables most likely to change the performance outcome.

03

Plan

Build a precise and progressive programme around the individual.

04

Refine

Use response data and honest feedback to keep improving the plan.

The client journey

Clear from first contact to formal review.

The public application stays deliberately short. Detailed training, health and performance information is collected securely only when the coaching relationship proceeds.

01

Application

A short screening enquiry establishes the goal, sport and preferred service.

02

Initial consultation

Objectives, background, availability and mutual suitability are discussed.

03

Full onboarding

The comprehensive athlete questionnaire follows only after proceeding.

04

Data review

Previous training, testing and competition data are reviewed in context.

05

Performance assessment

Goals, event demands, strengths and constraints are established.

06

Programme development

The first training phase and decision framework are designed.

07

Coaching delivery

Feedback and adaptation follow the selected service level.

08

Formal review

Progress is evaluated against agreed performance indicators.

Built for
